Authorities Inspect Patong Hotel Over Licensing Concerns

Phuket

Provincial officials in Phuket conducted an inspection of a major hotel in Patong following complaints that the property was operating without proper authorization.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Mr. Rungrueang Thimabutr, the provincial deputy governor, along with administrative officers from Phuket Province and Kathu District visited the site.

Mr. Rungrueang told the Phuket Express. The inspection revealed a large hotel-style building with more than 200 guest rooms, multiple amenities, and varied accommodation types.

Officials determined that the establishment was operating as a hotel without a license, an offense under Section 15 of the Hotel Act B.E. 2547 (2004), which carries penalties under Section 59. Authorities summoned the hotel’s manager for further questioning and will proceed in accordance with legal procedures.
