Phuket –
The skies above Phuket were filled with imagination as the city launched Flying Vision: Kites of Imagination, a creative project blending the ancient art of Thai kite-making with contemporary artistic innovation.
The celebration took place at Saphan Hin Cape, where Deputy Mayor Pibulsak Kittitharakul presided over the opening ceremony alongside Anchalee Vanich Thepbutsr, President of the Phuket Art Association, brand executives from YAYEE and Yabuda, distinguished guests, students, and local residents.

The initiative aims to preserve traditional Thai kite craftsmanship while encouraging new generations to explore design, creativity, and artistic expression. By merging heritage techniques with modern aesthetics, the project provides a platform for youth and the community to showcase their ideas in a vibrant cultural space.

A highlight of the event was an installation art exhibition titled Patterns of Imagination on Kites, which featured designs inspired by southern Thai identity. The works traced cultural connections from Malay kites to regional variations in Satun, Songkhla, and Krabi, each reflecting unique local traditions. The exhibition illustrated the journey of cultural fusion from Malay roots to Peranakan influences, creating a rich tapestry of heritage and innovation.

Flying Vision is organized as a parallel program to the Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025, reinforcing Phuket’s ambition to become a Creative City of Art and Culture. The project also supports sustainable cultural tourism, positioning the province as a high-quality destination for international visitors seeking authentic artistic and cultural experiences.
