Patong —
Police in Patong have arrested a Nigerian national on charges of cocaine trafficking after a sting operation escalated into a high-speed pursuit and collision with a civilian vehicle.
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified only as Mr. Easy (surname withheld), was found in possession of approximately 10 grams of cocaine, along with a mobile phone and a vehicle used in the alleged drug trade.
According to police, undercover officers attempted to purchase drugs from the suspect. Realizing he was being targeted, the man attempted to flee in his car, leading officers on a chase through Patong. The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle collided with a local resident’s car, causing property damage but no reported injuries.
Police quickly subdued the suspect and took him into custody. He now faces charges of possession of a Category 2 narcotic (cocaine) with intent to sell, in violation of Thai law.
The suspect was transferred to Patong Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities explained that the arrest reflects ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in Phuket’s tourist districts, where foreign nationals have increasingly been implicated in narcotics-related offenses
