Fatal Pickup Truck Collision at Phuket Intersection Leaves One Person Dead, One Injured

Phuket –

A road accident took place this morning at the Hua Kuan Intersection (local name) in Kamala, Kathu District, when a speeding pickup truck plowed into a motorcycle waiting at a red light. The crash claimed the life of one woman and left another seriously injured on Sunday (February 1st).

The Kamala Police told The Phuket Express that they arrived at the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. The motorcycle was found overturned on the road. Nearby, officers discovered the body of the deceased victim, while another woman was rushed to Patong Hospital with critical injuries.

The collision also damaged three other vehicles: a pickup truck, a sedan, and a van. Investigators documented the scene and conducted alcohol tests on all drivers involved, confirming that none had consumed alcohol.

According to preliminary questioning, the Nissan Navara was driven by Mr. Pasakorn, who had been traveling at high speed from Thalang District. Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing him to slam into the stationary motorcycle before losing control and hitting other vehicles.

Authorities are now gathering witness statements, reviewing CCTV footage, and collecting evidence to determine the precise cause of the accident. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.
