Young Turkish Tourist Dies in Phuket Motorcycle-Van Collision

Phuket –

A Turkish tourist was killed instantly in a late-night road accident in Phuket when his motorcycle collided with a van on Patak Road in Karon.

Police said the crash occurred at around 12:35 a.m. near the entrance to the Le Meridien Hotel. Officers from Karon Police Station, together with rescue workers from Kusoldharm Foundation, rushed to the scene.

Investigators found a silver Toyota van with severe front-end damage and another van nearby, also damaged in the collision. Debris from a Honda motorcycle was scattered across the road. The rider, identified as Mr. Yunus Emre Acar, 23, from Turkey, was discovered lying on the road wearing a helmet but fatally injured. His body was later sent to Patong Hospital for autopsy.

The van drivers, aged 58 and 33, were taken to Karon Police Station for questioning. Preliminary inquiries suggest the victim had exited the hotel access road and attempted to turn right onto Patak Road, where his motorcycle struck one of the vans with force.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and continuing interviews to determine the exact sequence of events and whether more than two vehicles were involved in the collision.
