Russian Tourist Fined After Cutting Police Chain on His Rental Motorcycle in Patong

Patong Police have taken swift action following a social media post showing a tourist attempting to cut a chain securing a motorcycle parked in a restricted zone.

Officers from Patong Police told the Phuket Express that the incident occurred at the dolphin intersection on Sawatdirak Road in Patong, Kathu District.

The tourist, identified as a Russian national renting the motorcycle, was fined 1,500 baht for two offenses. He was failing to present a valid driver’s license and parking in a prohibited area.

Meanwhile the rental shop owner was also fined 1,000 baht for allowing a customer without a license to operate one of their vehicles.
