Surakul Stadium Reopens after Renovation

Phuket, –

Surakul Stadium, the historic sporting venue in Phuket, officially reopened its doors with a ceremony that also marked the kickoff of the “Phuket Provincial Cup 2026” football tournament.

The event on Saturday (January 23rd) was presided over by Mr. Rewat Areerob, President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO), who explained the importance of the stadium’s revival as a cornerstone for community sports and public activities.

The opening ceremony welcomed distinguished guests including Colonel Adul Chuthong, Deputy Governor of Phuket, Mr. Thammawat Wongcharoenyos, member of the Sports Authority of Thailand representing provincial sports associations, the President of the Phuket Sports Association, PPAO executives, council members, government officials, private sector representatives, athletes, and local residents.

Mr. Rewat said that the upgraded Surakul Stadium represents a major step forward in Phuket’s sports development. The facility now features a football pitch and running track certified by the Athletics Association of Thailand, along with modern amenities designed to accommodate athletes, youth, and the wider public.

“This reopening is a big milestone for Phuket. Surakul Stadium will serve as a hub for sports and community activities, ensuring that people of all ages have access to quality facilities,” Mr. Rewat said.

The Phuket Provincial Cup 2026, launched alongside the reopening, is expected to draw strong participation from local teams and build a spirit of unity and healthy competition across the province.

With its enhanced infrastructure and renewed vision, Surakul Stadium is set to become a central venue for both sporting excellence and community engagement in Phuket.
