Russian Arrested in Phuket Over Call Center Scam Withdrawals

Kathu Police, working alongside provincial investigators, have arrested a Russian national believed to be part of a transnational call center gang.

Police told the Phuket Express. The suspect was caught with more than 60 pieces of evidence, including mobile phones and ATM cards, allegedly used to facilitate fraudulent transactions.

The gang had withdrawn cash from ATMs in Kathu on five occasions, four times at 30,000 baht each and a fifth withdrawal of 29,000 baht.

Following the arrest, the suspect was transferred to Hang Chat Police Station in Lampang, northern Thailand for prosecution.
