Russian Man Arrested in Phuket For Alleged Money Mule Fraud

Phuket –

Immigration officers in Phuket, working in close coordination with Kathu Police and the Provincial Investigation Division, have arrested a Russian man wanted under a Lampang court warrant for his alleged role in a large-scale fraud scheme. The suspect was apprehended at a condominium in Kathu District on Saturday evening (January 17th), following weeks of joint investigation.

Authorities say the man acted as a “money mule,” withdrawing cash from accounts linked to fraudulent operations that targeted Thai citizens. The scheme is believed to have caused significant financial losses.

Police tracked the suspect after receiving intelligence from Lampang police that he was hiding in Phuket. At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers spotted the man in the parking area of the condominium and moved in to detain him. The arrest warrant charges him with fraud and computer-related offenses, including inputting false or distorted data into systems to deceive the public.

During the operation, police seized more than 60 items, including mobile phones, electronic cards, and other devices believed to be connected to the crimes. Investigators are now examining the evidence to determine links to wider criminal networks.
