Phuket-
A dramatic rescue unfolded in the dense jungle of Phuket’s Bang Pae Waterfall when local emergency teams trekked for more than five hours to reach and evacuate a 67‑year‑old Dutch woman who suffered serious injuries after slipping during a hike.
The tourist, visiting with a male companion, fell while trekking in the forested area of Khao Phra Thaew National Park, Thalang District. The accident left her with a visibly deformed left arm and injuries to her right leg, making it impossible for her to walk out of the jungle. Despite her condition, she remained conscious and communicative.
Upon receiving the distress call, more than 15 responders medical and rescue units nearby mobilized. Starting from Ton Sai Waterfall, the teams hiked approximately four kilometers through rugged terrain to reach the stranded tourists.
After administering first aid, rescuers placed the injured woman on a stretcher and began the arduous journey back through the forest. The evacuation route required crossing steep paths and thick vegetation, eventually leading to Ton Sai Waterfall where an ambulance was waiting. The mission lasted from early afternoon until nightfall.
The injured tourist was transported safely to Thalang Hospital for further treatment. Her male companion was unharmed. Despite her injuries, the woman remained in good spirits, expressing gratitude to the rescue teams. Both tourists praised the bravery and dedication of the responders, vowing to share the story with family and friends back in the Netherlands.
