Phuket –
Phuket International Airport has announced impressive growth in both passenger traffic and flight operations for 2025, showing the island’s resurgence as a gateway to the Andaman region and a leading tourism hub.
According to airport director Monchai Tanod, the facility handled 106,581 flights last year, marking a 2.8% increase compared to 2024. Of these, 48,762 were domestic flights and 57,819 international flights, reflecting the steady return of global connectivity.

Passenger traffic also rose, reaching 17,474,064 travelers in 2025 – a 1.5% increase from the previous year. The figures include 6.63 million domestic passengers and 10.83 million international passengers, showing Phuket’s enduring appeal to overseas visitors.

While the numbers have not yet surpassed the record highs of 2019, they represent 92.22% of peak flight volumes and 96.44% of peak passenger traffic recorded that year. This trajectory signals growing confidence among travelers and airlines alike, as Phuket continues to rebound from the pandemic-era downturn.
Airport officials explained that the sustained recovery reflects both the strength of Thailand’s aviation sector and Phuket’s role as a premier destination for leisure and tourism. With international arrivals climbing and domestic travel remaining strong, Phuket International Airport is once again positioning itself as the vital “Gateway to the Andaman.”
