Uzbek Man Arrested in Phuket for Alleged Sexual Assault on Minor Girl at Restaurant

Police in Phuket have arrested a male tourist from Uzbekistan following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old Thai girl at a restaurant in Thalang.

The Tha Chatchai Police told the Phuket Express that the incident was reported at 10:35 p.m. on Sunday (January 11th) through the provincial 191 emergency radio center. Officers were dispatched to a restaurant located in Soi Mai Khao 5, Moo 4, in the Mai Khao Subdistrict, where the assault allegedly occurred.

The victim told authorities that the suspect assaulted her as she was leaving the restroom. Police quickly detained the man at the scene and initiated legal proceedings in accordance with Thai law.

Officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with further questioning and evidence collection underway.

Local authorities stated that they are committed to ensuring safety for both residents and visitors, and that incidents of this nature will be dealt with firmly under Thailand’s legal system.
