Female Russian Teen Dies, 18 Foreigners Injured After Speedboat Collides With Fishing Boat Near Krabi – VIDEO

An 18 year-old female Russian teen has been pronounced dead while 18 foreigners have sustained various injuries after a speedboat collided with a local fishing vessel near the Phi Phi Island in Krabi on Sunday morning (January 11th).

The Phuket Marine Office told the Phuket Express that at approximately 08:55 a.m., the speedboat was operating carrying 55 passengers and crew, and struck the local fishing boat while it was engaged in fishing activities.

Initial reports confirmed 22 people injured: Three Thai crew members and 19 foreign tourists. Tragically, one fatality has been reported – Miss Starykh, an 18-year-old Russian national. Several injured passengers received immediate treatment at Phi Phi Hospital, with some being transferred to medical facilities in Phuket at their request and in coordination with the tour operator.

In response, Phuket authorities immediately coordinated with multiple agencies. The Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization’s Tourist Assistance Center (Pearl Center) dispatched two rescue boats to evacuate victims and ensure safety at the scene.

Emergency medical teams deployed advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support units. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, stressing a fully integrated response to safeguard both tourists and local residents.
