Authorities in Phuket have launched a sweeping safety campaign across piers and road checkpoints to protect residents and tourists during the New Year 2026 celebrations. Vice Governor Adul Chuthong personally led inspections at key transport hubs, stressing the province’s commitment to safe travel and its image as a world-class tourism destination.

Phuket Province has officially launched its Command Center for Road and Marine Accident Prevention ahead of the New Year 2026 celebrations, reinforcing its commitment to public safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The inspection began at Chalong Pier, one of Phuket’s busiest gateways for marine tourism. Officials discussed strict compliance with five core safety measures mandated by the Marine Department. These measures aim to ensure that the surge in holiday travelers can enjoy Phuket’s waters with confidence.

Vice Governor Adul also visited major checkpoints in Kathu District, including Si Kor, Patong Hill, and Kuan Yak (Giant Hill). Authorities highlighted ten key traffic measures designed to ease congestion, prevent accidents, and reassure both locals and visitors. Integrated operations between police, transport agencies, and emergency medical teams are being deployed to maintain order during the peak travel period.

The campaign brings together multiple agencies, provincial administrators, police, marine officials, security units, and emergency responders, to provide seamless safety coverage. Efforts include speed reduction campaigns, accident prevention strategies, and drug testing for both officials and travelers to eliminate risky behaviors.

Thailand traditionally marks the New Year holiday as the “Seven Dangerous Days,” a period of heightened accident risk. Phuket’s intensified safety measures are part of a broader national effort to reduce casualties while reinforcing the province’s reputation as a safe, international tourism hub.

This year the campaign “Drive Safely, Slow Down, Prevent Accidents” has started after midnight from December 30th, 2025 to January 5th, 2026.

“Phuket is committed to ensuring safe travel by land and sea during the New Year festival,” Vice Governor Adul said. “Our integrated approach will protect lives, reduce accidents, and strengthen Phuket’s image as a destination that prioritizes safety at the highest level.”

With these measures in place, officials hope both residents and international visitors can celebrate the New Year with peace of mind, enjoying the island’s attractions in a secure and welcoming environment.
