Fake Police Extortionists Arrested in Phuket

Phuket –
Police in Chalong swiftly apprehended two men accused of posing as officers to extort money from foreign residents and tourists in the Rawai area.

The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express that following reports of individuals claiming to be police and demanding payments at villas and tourist properties, investigators at Chalong Police Station launched a probe. After gathering sufficient evidence, the Phuket Provincial Court issued arrest warrants for the suspects, identified as Mr. Paripat (alias “Ped”) and Mr. Suriya (alias “Ya”).

On December 29th, Chalong police, working in coordination with highway patrol officers, tracked the suspects’ vehicle and intercepted it. Both men were taken into custody under warrants No. 1210/2568 and 1211/2568, facing charges of attempted fraud by impersonating another person.

Authorities stressed that anyone who has suffered losses due to similar schemes should file a complaint at their local police station.

Police also reiterated their commitment to the “No Gift Policy”, stating that officers are prohibited from accepting gifts, gratuities, or any benefits in connection with their duties, in line with national anti-corruption measures.
