The 21st Tsunami Memorial Ceremony Held in Patong

Patong –

On Thursday, December 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., Patong Municipality hosted the 21st Anniversary Tsunami Memorial Ceremony at Bangla Square, Patong Beach. The event was presided over by Ms. Lalita Maneesri, Mayor of Patong, and attended by municipal executives, council members, government officials, private sector representatives, local residents, and international tourists.

The ceremony was organized to honor the victims of the devastating tsunami of December 26, 2004, which claimed thousands of lives along Thailand’s Andaman coast, particularly in Patong, Phuket.

Beyond remembrance, the event aimed to raise public awareness, strengthen disaster preparedness, and foster cooperation among government agencies, private organizations, and communities to ensure readiness for future emergencies. It also showed efforts to build confidence in safety among visitors to Phuket.

Participants observed a one-minute silence in tribute to Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who sadly passed away earlier this year, expressing profound gratitude for her boundless benevolence.
