Phuket Rolls Out Year-End Plan to Celebrate New Year 2026

Phuket City Municipality has unveiled an ambitious program to boost tourism, strengthen the local economy, and promote community well-being during the festive season. Central to the plan is the launch of the “Three-District Run”, a collaborative sporting event linking Phuket City, Patong, and Srisunthorn municipalities.

The announcement was made at the Chartered Bank intersection in Phuket Old Town by Mayor Supachok La-ongpetch, joined by Deputy Mayor Pibulsak Kittitharakul, Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri, and Srisunthorn Mayor Chalermphon Koedsap. The program shows Phuket’s vision of positioning itself as a sports and wellness tourism hub, while developing cultural and social connections across diverse communities.

A landmark sports tourism event designed to link the historic old town, coastal tourist zones, and suburban communities. Each municipality brings experience in organizing health-focused and community runs, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive celebration

Three iconic landmarks—the Chartered Bank intersection, Surin Clock Tower, and Suriyadech Fountain—have been adorned with Christmas and Nutcracker themes, creating a vibrant holiday atmosphere in the old town and surrounding areas.

A New Year alms-giving ceremony on January 1, 2026, at the Government Savings Bank on Phang Nga Road.

The “Autistic Art” project, featuring cartoon-themed shirts designed by special-needs students, with proceeds supporting inclusive education.

National Children’s Day celebration on January 10, 2026, at Saphan Hin Park under the theme “Love Thailand, Care for the World.”

Discover Phuket Night Run 2026 on February 28, 2026, with proceeds directed to the construction of the “Phuket Care Center.”

  • Launch of a new illuminated “Tree Garden” at Saphan Hin Public Park.
  • Introduction of open-top EV buses for sightseeing tours around Phuket Old Town.
  • Establishment of 24-hour public service points along Virat Hongyok Road from December 30, 2025, to January 5, 2026, to ensure safety during the holiday season.

Mayor Supachok emphasized that the program is designed to:

  • Stimulate local businesses during the festive period.
  • Elevate Phuket’s image as a destination for sports, wellness, and cultural tourism.
  • Strengthen community participation while showcasing the island’s unique identity.
