Bangkok, December 9th, 2025– Intense fighting has resumed this morning along the disputed Thai-Cambodian border, with Cambodian forces launching heavy artillery barrages and suicide drones into Thai territory, according to the Royal Thai Army’s Second Army Region.
Reports indicate artillery shells landed heavily on Thai soil in multiple locations, including the Phaya Sat Ban area, Chong An Ma pass in Ubon Ratchathani province, and Hill 561. At least eight impact sites were confirmed, with shells striking near Preah Vihear, Phu Makhuea, and Hill 600, causing widespread alarm. Most local residents have been evacuated, however.

Cambodian troops reportedly used drones, including kamikaze-style explosive variants, alongside rocket launchers and small arms fire.
In response, Thai forces retaliated decisively, deploying F-16 fighter jets and drones to target Cambodian military positions, including a casino building used as a drone control center near Chong An Ma and supply routes. The Thai military stated that operations were proportionate and aimed at neutralizing threats to sovereignty and civilian safety.

The Second Army Region reaffirmed its commitment to defending Thailand’s territorial integrity with full strength, stating that troops remain on high alert across the border. Evacuations of civilians in affected areas are ongoing, and authorities urge the public to rely on official sources for updates amid the escalating tensions.
