Surat Thani —
Police in Koh Samui have arrested a French national who allegedly turned his rented luxury villa into a base for theft, stealing valuables from a neighboring property.
The Bo Phut Police told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified only as Mr. Arezxi, 29, was apprehended on November 27th in the Bo Phut subdistrict after a Thai resident reported a burglary. Officers from Bo Phut Police Station and Surat Thani Immigration carried out the operation, recovering a large haul of stolen goods.
During the search, police found two suitcases, laptops including a MacBook, three wristwatches, a diamond ring, Nike Jordan sneakers, four bottles of perfume, and a JBL portable speaker. The total value of the seized property was estimated at 243,870 baht (approx. USD 6,700).
CCTV footage reportedly showed Mr. Arezxi calmly walking out of the victim’s villa with the stolen items. Faced with the evidence, he confessed to the crime. Authorities have charged him with “burglary in a dwelling and receiving stolen property.”
Immigration records revealed that Mr. Arezxi had entered Thailand five times previously, most recently through Suvarnabhumi Airport on November 6, 2025. He had registered his residence in Bangkok and was scheduled to depart on January 4, 2026.
Immigration officials are now preparing to recommend visa revocation and deportation, citing his “inappropriate behavior” and risk to public safety.
