Royal Thai Navy Deploys Flagship for Southern Flood Relief

Songkhla –
The Royal Thai Navy has mobilized its flagship, HTMS Chakri Naruebet, to lead urgent disaster relief operations in flood-stricken southern provinces, transforming the aircraft carrier into a floating command center for humanitarian assistance.

Admiral Phairoj Fueangchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, has been monitoring the worsening flood situation across Songkhla, Satun, Narathiwat, and Surat Thani since its onset. Naval disaster relief units in these provinces have already been deployed to assist affected communities, but the scale of the crisis has prompted a larger response.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan confirmed that the Navy Commander ordered the Royal Thai Fleet to dispatch additional forces, including inflatable boats from the Naval Special Warfare Command and aircraft, to reach residents stranded in critical flood zones.

Immediate Relief Missions

  • Delivering essential supplies — food, drinking water, and relief items to isolated communities.
  • Evacuating residents from high-risk areas where safety is threatened.
  • Supporting local agencies in initial recovery efforts and conducting damage assessments.

HTMS Chakri Naruebet will carry two helicopters and special operations teams, departing late on November 25 with relief supplies onboard. The vessel will serve as a “floating headquarters” to coordinate operations under the Navy’s From the Sea disaster relief initiative.

The Navy has opened donation channels for food, drinking water, and essential goods. Contributions can be made through the Naval Civil Affairs Department (Tel. 02-475-3023) or directly to naval officers coordinating relief efforts:

  • Lt. Commander Prateep Srimodsuk – 089-605-8812
  • Sub-Lieutenant Anake Siripojanatip – 061-872-6972
  • Sub-Lieutenant Chonlakorn Laoyai – 061-819-5492

Local naval units nationwide are also accepting donations to support the mission.
