A 68-year-old Swedish tourist was rescued from drowning at Kata Beach’s Pak Bang area, a stretch notorious for its powerful rip currents and high-risk swimming conditions. The incident has reignited concerns over coastal safety as Thailand prepares for its peak tourism season.
On Sunday (November 16th) at 12:37 PM, the Emergency Command Center received an alert that the tourist had been submerged for approximately ten minutes before lifeguards managed to pull him from the water. Rescue personnel responded immediately, performing CPR and deploying an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a bid to revive the victim.
The patient was then transferred to an advanced ambulance from Chalong Hospital took over and transported him for further medical treatment.
Authorities are urging both locals and tourists to exercise heightened caution when engaging in marine activities, especially during periods of strong winds and rough seas. Strict adherence to lifeguard warnings is essential to ensure public safety.
