Phuket –
On November 12, 2025, Phuket Wittayalai School welcomed a distinguished guest whose words stirred hearts and minds. General Boonsin Padklang, affectionately known as “Commander Shrimp,” delivered a powerful keynote lecture titled “Soldiers of the King,” sharing his personal journey of service and sacrifice in defense of the nation.

As a former Commander of the 2nd Army Region and a Royal Guard Officer, General Boonsin brought decades of experience and unwavering devotion to the stage. His message was clear: true soldiers serve not only with strength, but with integrity, loyalty, and love for the nation, religion, and monarchy.
“A soldier of the King must be honest, faithful, and committed to the greater good,” he told the packed auditorium. “I salute the 16 brave soldiers who gave their lives so that you may study in peace. Their sacrifice is real. We saw it in our time. They defended our land and preserved the tricolor flag for future generations.”

The lecture stressed the symbolic meaning of Thailand’s national flag—red for the nation, white for religion, and blue for the monarchy. General Boonsin urged students to uphold religious teachings, show gratitude to their parents, and strive to become strong, principled adults. “Whatever you aspire to be, do it with excellence—for the country. If you wish to become a soldier, we welcome you. But above all, be good citizens of this land.”
The event was attended by military dignitaries including Major General Attachai Raksasilp, Associate Professor Dr. Areerat Raksasilp, Major Chamikan Wongsida, and Major Silpachai Pornseksan, reflecting the deep ties between the armed forces and civic education. Mr. Samran Jindaphon, President of the Phuket Wittayalai Alumni Association, expressed pride in hosting the former army commander, noting the value of such inspiration for both alumni and current students.

School Director Mr. Watcharasak Songpan thanked General Boonsin for his heartfelt contribution, describing the lecture as “a deeply meaningful experience that instills understanding of Thailand’s core institutions and the spirit of selfless service.”
The atmosphere was one of reverence and unity, with students, teachers, alumni, and local residents filling the Luang Por Phrao Phutthasaro Auditorium. The event marked a big moment in the school’s civic education efforts—planting seeds of patriotism, sacrifice, and moral courage in the hearts of Phuket’s youth.
