Israeli Man Arrested at Phuket Airport for Possession of Unauthorized Ammunition

Phuket-

Security personnel at Phuket International Airport, in coordination with immigration police and customs officers, apprehended a 25-year-old Israeli national for illegal possession of firearm ammunition during a routine baggage inspection.

The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified as Mr. Abraham Abuhatsira, was preparing to board a Bangkok Airways flight to Koh Samui when airport security flagged his black suitcase for further inspection. Upon a detailed search, officials discovered a magazine containing 29 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition concealed inside the luggage.

Authorities confirmed that Mr. Abuhatsira had entered Thailand via Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on October 27th, 2025, before traveling onward to Phuket. His travel itinerary also included a return flight from Bangkok to Tel Aviv scheduled for mid-November.

Mr. Abuhatsira was immediately taken into custody and charged under Thailand’s Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Fireworks Act B.E. 2490 for unauthorized possession of ammunition. Investigators are currently probing the origin of the ammunition and the suspect’s intent.
