Phuket-
At 9:24 PM on Thursday (November 6th) local time, residents across Phuket received an emergency alert via the Cell Broadcast system, warning of potential flooding and landslides following prolonged heavy rainfall in multiple districts. The alert was issued by the Phuket Provincial Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM Phuket), urging the public to closely monitor weather conditions and remain vigilant.
Heavy downpours have affected key areas including Mueang Phuket, Thalang, and Kathu districts, raising concerns over flash floods, runoff, and soil instability. Authorities have identified increased risk in hillside communities and low-lying zones, as well as coastal areas vulnerable to strong waves and turbulent seas.
The DDPM Phuket advised small boat operators and coastal residents to exercise caution due to rough sea conditions, and emphasized the importance of staying informed through official weather forecasts and government announcements. While urging preparedness, officials also called on the public to remain calm and avoid panic.
In case of emergencies, residents are encouraged to contact the DDPM hotline at 1784 or reach out to their local administrative offices, which are on standby around the clock.
