Young Thai Girl and Uncle Drown in Phuket Sea in Rough Conditions

Phuket –
A 13-year-old girl has been found dead along with her uncle after the two were swept out to sea by strong waves while swimming off Bang Tao Beach in Phuket’s Cherng Talay subdistrict on Sunday morning.

The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express that the victims were identified as Natwipha, 13, and Phumisak, 42, both residents of Thepkrasattri in Thalang. According to local authorities, the pair had been enjoying a morning swim near a beach on Sunday (November 2nd) when they were caught in powerful surf and disappeared beneath the waves.

Emergency services were alerted before noon. The Thalang District Chief immediately mobilized a coordinated search effort involving rescue teams, and lifeguards. The search operation utilized jet skis and drones.

Despite hours of intensive searching, the operation was called off at 3:45 p.m. due to worsening sea conditions. The body of the young girl was later recovered, while the search for her uncle resumed the following morning, November 3rd, with authorities continuing to scour the area. Update: The body of her uncle was reportedly found later this morning.
