Elderly Tuk Tuk Driver Hits Government Car with Machete after Road Acident in Phuket

Phuket-

A 74-year-old hired driver of a red mini-truck violently attacked a government car with a machete following a traffic collision at a busy intersection in Phuket, causing significant damage to the official vehicle.

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that they responded to reports of a disturbance at the Saphan Hin traffic light junction in the Talad Yai subdistrict, where two vehicles had collided and one driver allegedly used a weapon to destroy property.

Upon arrival, officers found a silver Toyota Hilux Revo car with its rear passenger-side window shattered and deep gashes from a sharp object. The front right side of the car also sustained damage. The second vehicle, a red Daihatsu Hijet with a yellow Phuket license plate used for public transport, showed impact damage on its front left side.

Investigators identified the car driver as Mr. Phudis, 45, and the mini-truck driver as Mr. Sukit, 74. Mr. Sukit was found in possession of a machete believed to have been used in the attack. Both men were escorted to Muang Phuket Police Station for questioning.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the intersection to determine the sequence of events and establish the motive behind the attack. The damaged car reportedly belongs to the Phuket Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

No injuries were reported, but authorities are treating the case as a serious offense involving destruction of government property and public safety concerns.
