UPDATE: Pakistani Man Arrested Allegedly Assaulting Transgender Woman in Patong

Phuket police have apprehended a Pakistani national accused of assaulting a transgender woman and stealing ฿10,000 in cash, following a swift investigation that led to his capture at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Phuket authorities and local safety advocates are urging heightened vigilance following a disturbing incident in Patong involving a violent assault and robbery targeting a transgender woman known locally as “Barbie.”

Now for the update:

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that authorities launched a manhunt after the victim filed a complaint, and coordinated with immigration officials to intercept the suspect. On Friday (October 16th) he was detained at Suvarnabhumi Airport while preparing to board an outbound flight.

Police have since transferred the suspect to Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings. The case shows the importance of rapid inter-agency cooperation in addressing crimes involving foreign nationals and ensuring justice for victims.

The suspect did not release a statement to the press and avoided trying to show his face, as well as refusing interviews.
