Patong –

Phuket authorities and local safety advocates are urging heightened vigilance following a disturbing incident in Patong involving a violent assault and robbery targeting a transgender woman known locally as “Barbie.”

According to preliminary reports this week, the victim sustained injuries after being attacked by a male tourist believed to be of Pakistani origin. The suspect, described as having a small build, thick eyebrows, and a prominent mustache and beard, allegedly used a dating application to connect with women and transgender individuals in the area. He reportedly lured victims by inviting them out for meals or casual dates before exhibiting aggressive behavior.

The attack occurred in a popular nightlife zone, raising concerns about the safety of vulnerable groups, particularly solo travelers and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Witnesses and local residents have shared warnings on social media, noting the suspect’s pattern of behavior and urging others to exercise caution when engaging with strangers online.

Local police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage in the vicinity. Authorities have also encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in identifying the suspect and preventing further harm.
