Phuket, –

Thalang Police have arrested a married couple in possession of more than 20,000 methamphetamine pills during a high-stakes operation near a local gas station, marking a blow to regional drug trafficking networks.

The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express this week that the suspects, identified as Mr. Arunroj and Ms. Wichuda, both 24 and residents of Thepkrasattri in Thalang, were apprehended along Thepkrasattri Road near the Mud Dok Khao intersection. Officers from the Thalang Police Investigation Unit conducted the arrest following a tip-off from an informant.

Authorities seized 20,130 methamphetamine pills hidden inside the car, along with 8,000 baht in cash. The vehicle was thoroughly searched at a nearby Shell gas station, where the drugs were discovered concealed within.

Investigators revealed that the couple had allegedly traveled to Krabi to collect the narcotics, intending to distribute them across Thalang. Surveillance and intelligence gathering led officers to track the suspects’ movements and intercept them before the drugs could be circulated.

Both individuals now face serious charges of possessing a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to sell, an offense deemed to threaten public safety and national security. They have been transferred to Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
