UPDATE: Man Arrested in Phuket for Brandishing Toy Gun During Road Rage Incident

Phuket –

Phuket police have arrested a 31-year-old man for threatening a motorist with a toy gun following a road rage incident in the Ko Kaeo underpass on Saturday afternoon.

Our previous story:

A taxi driver in Phuket was left shaken after a confrontation with an enraged motorcyclist who allegedly brandished a gun-like object during a traffic dispute near the Bang Khu Underpass.

Now for the update:

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified only as Mr. P, a native of Kamphaeng Phet province, was captured on video confronting a taxi driver after allegedly being cut off while riding his motorcycle.

According to witnesses, Mr. P forced the taxi to stop, then brandished an object resembling a firearm in a threatening manner. A woman riding pillion on his motorcycle attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation.

Following the incident the Phuket City Police ordered an immediate investigation. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on October 5th, officers located Mr. P at a rented room in Soi Tatan, Ratsada subdistrict. A search of his motorcycle revealed the weapon used in the incident—a toy gun known as a “Switch Gun.”

During questioning, Mr. P admitted to using the fake firearm to intimidate the taxi driver, claiming he was angered after being dangerously overtaken. He stated that he had dropped off his girlfriend in Thalang district before returning to his residence, where he was later apprehended. He said he only wanted to scare the taxi driver and didn’t intend to harm anyone.

Police have charged Mr. P with intimidation, unauthorized use of a vehicle in a tunnel, and failure to pay the annual vehicle tax. He has been handed over to investigators at Muang Phuket Police Station for further legal proceedings.
