Phuket —
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of stabbing another individual in a bar in downtown Phuket, in what police suspect was a crime of jealousy. The suspect, identified only as Mr. Yut (alias), 43, is reportedly the nephew of a well-known local politician from Phatthalung .
The incident occurred late on the night of October 1st, when Mr. Yut allegedly entered a bar and attacked a man from Nakhon Si Thammarat, believed to be the new partner of his former girlfriend. The victim sustained serious injuries but is now in stable condition and recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Following the attack, Mr. Yut fled the scene in a red-plated BMW before switching vehicles and returning to his hometown in Phatthalung. Police have since impounded the car used in the escape and are preparing for the suspect’s surrender.
Phuket City Police Chief Pol. Col. Chatree Chukaew confirmed that the suspect’s relatives have contacted authorities and pledged to bring Mr. Yut to Phuket on October 3rd. Officers are on standby to take him into custody and proceed with legal action.
The Phuket Provincial Court has approved an arrest warrant on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a knife in a public area without justifiable cause.
