Sri Lankan Man Arrested at Phuket Airport for Possessing Fake Passport

A 25-year-old Sri Lankan national was arrested at Phuket International Airport for allegedly using a counterfeit passport, according to immigration authorities.

Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the arrest took place around 1:30 PM in the international arrivals hall, where an investigative unit from the Immigration Bureau at Phuket Airport had been monitoring individuals flagged as high-risk. Officers approached the suspect near the arrival gate and, upon inspection, discovered that the passport he presented was fraudulent.

The suspect was charged under Section 269/9 of Thailand’s Criminal Code for possessing and using a forged travel document. He was transferred to Sakhu Police Station for further legal proceedings.
