UPDATE: Body of Missing Bahraini Tourist Recovered After Drowning at Karon Beach

After a three-day search, rescue teams have recovered the body of a Bahraini tourist who went missing following a drowning incident at Karon Beach. The victim, identified as Mr. Jasim Abdali Almeshkhas, had been vacationing in Phuket with his family when tragedy struck on the evening of September 19.

Three male tourists defied red flag warnings and entered the water at Karon Beach on Thursday, leading to a rescue operation that left one man missing and two others hospitalized.

According to local authorities, Mr. Almeshkhas entered the water with his two younger brothers despite red warning flags posted along the beach due to hazardous conditions. Strong currents swept all three men out to sea. Lifeguards managed to rescue Ahmed and Mohamed Almeshkhas, who were treated for minor injuries, but Jasim was carried away by the waves.

The search operation, led by Karon Municipality, continued through the weekend. this week, emergency responders discovered Mr. Almeshkhas’s body among the rocks near Laem Sai, a rocky outcrop at the southern end of Karon Beach. The site was cordoned off as forensic specialists from Vachira Phuket Hospital conducted an initial examination before transferring the body for a full autopsy.

Local police have notified the Bahraini Embassy and confirmed that the family had arrived in Phuket on September 14, staying at a hotel in Patong. Officials reiterated warnings about dangerous rip currents common during the southwest monsoon season, stressing the importance of adhering to beach safety advisories.
