UPDATE: Four British Suspects Charged for Violent Robbery of American Lawyer in Phuket, Suspects Deny Charges

Phuket –

Four British nationals have been charged for allegedly orchestrating a violent robbery targeting a 40-year-old American lawyer, who was attacked while riding his motorcycle in Cherng Talay earlier this week.

Our previous story:

A 40-year-old American tourist was targeted by two foreign assailants in an upscale area of Phuket on Thursday (September 18th).

Phuket police have arrested four British nationals in connection with a violent daylight robbery targeting a 40-year-old American tourist in Cherng Talay.

The Phuket Provincial Police, led by Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum told the Phuket Express that all four suspects had entered Thailand legally on tourist visas, arriving separately between May and June. Although they traveled independently, they were found living together at the same residence. Investigators are probing whether the group had premeditated the attack or selected the victim opportunistically.

One of the suspects reportedly arrived in Phuket on the same day as the victim, prompting further scrutiny into possible surveillance or targeting. Police are coordinating with UK authorities to examine the suspects’ backgrounds and any prior criminal activity.

All four men have been formally charged with joint robbery. Despite denying the allegations, they remain in custody as police continue to interrogate both the suspects and the victim. Investigators are also working to determine whether additional individuals were involved or if the crime was part of a broader scheme.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert stated that while no prior offenses have been linked to the suspects in Thailand, the investigation remains active and cross-border intelligence sharing is underway.
