Phang Nga –
A late-night pursuit led to the arrest of a suspected drug courier and the seizure of 200,000 methamphetamine pills in Takua Pa district.
The Highway Police told the Phuket Express that the incident unfolded just before midnight on September 12th, when highway police stationed along the main Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) flagged down a suspicious grey pickup truck. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated, leading to officers to start a high-speed chase through the area.
During the pursuit, officers witnessed the suspect hurling two black plastic bags from the vehicle onto the roadside. The chase ended shortly thereafter when police successfully intercepted the truck and detained the driver, identified as Mr. Imrohem (surname withheld), a 44-year-old resident of Ao Luek District in Krabi.
Upon inspection, the discarded bags were found to contain 100 bundles of orange methamphetamine pills stamped with the “WY” logo—totaling approximately 200,000 pills. The suspect reportedly confessed to transporting the drugs on behalf of a trafficking network known only by the alias “Bang Yeo.” He claimed to have been paid 60,000 baht per delivery to move narcotics from Kuraburi District in Phang Nga to Ao Luek in Krabi.
Mr. Imrohem has been formally charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute. He was handed over to investigators at Takua Pa Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities are now working to identify additional members of the trafficking network.
