Phuket-
Phuket International Airport held a comprehensive emergency response drill this week, aimed at enhancing security protocols and inter-agency coordination in line with national aviation standards.

Our previous story:
The exercise, officially titled the Full-Scale Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) drill, focused on procedures for handling suspicious items or prohibited objects—outlined in Chapter 4 of the airport’s contingency plan (ACP) for fiscal year 2025.

The simulation brought together key stakeholders to rehearse their roles and responsibilities in a high-risk scenario, ensuring readiness and compliance with Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT) regulations, particularly Standard No. 37 on airport safety and the National Civil Aviation Security Program.
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat presided over the opening ceremony, stating the importance of proactive security measures in safeguarding passengers and airport operations. “This exercise not only strengthens our emergency response capabilities but also reinforces public confidence in Phuket as a safe and reliable gateway,” he stated.

Airport Director Montchai Tahnod delivered a briefing on the objectives of the drill, which included building seamless teamwork among aviation personnel, law enforcement, rescue teams, and private sector partners.
This annual drill shows Phuket Airport’s commitment to international safety standards and its role as a regional aviation hub prepared for any contingency.
