Man Arrested After Torching Ex-Girlfriend’s Car in Phuket – VIDEO

Phuket —

A 49-year-old man was arrested on September 2nd for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s car in a late-night act of arson outside her home in Wichit .

The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that they apprehended Mr. Srayut, 49 at his residence at a housing estate. The arrest followed an investigation into a fire that destroyed a red Mazda 2 sedan parked outside the home of Ms. Thitapha, also 49.

Security footage from a camera positioned outside the victim’s home captured the suspect approaching the vehicle wearing a transparent plastic raincoat, shorts, and a motorcycle helmet. He was seen pouring gasoline over the car before igniting it and fleeing the scene.

Investigators quickly identified Mr. Srayut as the prime suspect, citing his resemblance to the individual in the footage and his recent separation from the victim, which occurred roughly two months prior. A warrant was issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on September 2nd, and officers moved in to arrest him later that day.

During questioning, Mr. Srayut confessed to the crime, stating that he acted in a moment of emotional distress and now regrets his actions. Police recovered the motorcycle used in the incident, while the clothing and helmet were reportedly discarded in a roadside trash bin.

Authorities have charged Mr. Srayut with arson and destruction of property. Police expressed the seriousness of the offense, noting the suspect’s blatant disregard for public safety and the law.
