A Russian tourist was rushed to a local hospital after being bitten by a monkey and collapsing at Khao To Sae, a popular hilltop viewpoint in Phuket’s Muang District.
The incident occurred earlier on Saturday (August 23rd) while the tourist was exploring the area, which is known for its panoramic views and resident population of wild macaques. According to local officials, the monkey bite happened when the tourist came too close to the animals—possibly while attempting to feed them.
Rescue volunteers on site provided immediate first aid. However, the tourist reportedly fainted during treatment, prompting authorities to call the emergency hotline. An ambulance arrived promptly and transported the individual to a nearby hospital, where they are currently under medical observation.
Mr. Krit Thepbamrung, tourist volunteer, said such incidents are not uncommon. “Many visitors underestimate the risks of interacting with wild monkeys,” he explained. “Approaching them or offering food can trigger defensive or aggressive behavior.”
He urged tourists to strictly follow safety guidelines and respect the boundaries set by park staff. “These animals may seem playful, but they are unpredictable. For your safety, please avoid direct contact and always listen to official instructions,” Mr. Krit added.
