Truck Carrying Steel Fails to Climb Patong Hill – VIDEO

Patong –

At approximately 1:00 PM yesterday, August 15th, 2025, a multi-ton steel transport truck attempting to ascend Patong Hill from the Patong side toward Kathu was unable to complete the climb, resulting in a significant traffic jam and safety concerns.

Local authorities told the Phuket Express that the truck stalled midway up the steep incline, causing its heavy steel cargo to shift and slide backward. The incident forced traffic to a near standstill, with only the far-right lane remaining open to vehicles. Police from Patong Police Station quickly arrived on the scene to manage traffic and begin clearing the route.

Severe congestion was then reported on Patong Hill Road. Only one lane was then currently open for traffic. Drivers reported experiencing long delays and slow movement through the area.

Officials urged drivers—especially those operating heavy trucks or vehicles in poor condition—to avoid using Patong Hill if possible during the incident. The route is known for its steep gradient and can be hazardous for inexperienced drivers or overloaded vehicles.

Authorities were working to restore full traffic flow as quickly as possible, but delays were expected to continue throughout the afternoon. Travelers are advised to check traffic updates and plan accordingly.
