A shocking murder case has rocked the resort town of Patong after the body of a prominent businesswoman was discovered weighted down in a coastal fish cage in neighboring Phang Nga. Authorities have arrested a 21-year-old man who confessed to the killing, citing a heated dispute over business and property.

Our previous stories:

Authorities in Takua Thung District are investigating a disturbing discovery after the body of an unidentified woman was found floating in Tha Yai Canal, bound with chains and concrete dumbbells in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to conceal the corpse.

After a joint investigation by Phang Nga Provincial Police and Kokkloi Police Station, authorities identified the victim as Ms. Kantsiri, a 51-year-old woman originally from Thailand’s northeastern region.

Now for the update:

The victim, 51-year-old Karnsiri, was a co-owner of a well-known nightclub in Patong and resided in a luxury hillside home on Fifty Year Road in Kathu district. Her body was found on August 8th, floating near a fish cage in Tha Yai Canal, Kok Kloi, with signs of blunt force trauma and strangulation. Investigators revealed she had been bound with chains and weighted with a cement dumbbell.

Following an intensive investigation, police identified the suspect as Teerapat, a resident of Takua Thung district in Phang Nga. He was arrested on August 12th under a warrant issued by the Phang Nga Provincial Court for murder and concealment of a corpse.

During interrogation, Teerapat admitted to the crime, stating that he had lived with Karnsiri for about a year and had become involved in her business. On August 6th, a violent argument erupted over financial matters and ownership of the nightclub. In a fit of rage, he struck her with a cement dumbbell, resulting in her death.

Disturbingly, Teerapat confessed to remaining in the house with the body overnight before transporting it in the early hours of August 8th. He used a borrowed pickup truck to dispose of the corpse in the sea, hoping to hide the evidence.

Police say the suspect had no prior criminal record. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the financial dealings between the two and any potential accomplices.
