Phang Nga –

Authorities in Takua Thung District are investigating a disturbing discovery after the body of an unidentified woman was found floating in Tha Yai Canal, bound with chains and concrete dumbbells in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to conceal the corpse.

The Takua Thung Police told the Phuket Express that on Friday (August 8th), local officials were alerted by the village head of Kok Kloi, after fishermen spotted the body near a fish cage in the canal. Responding to the scene were district security officers, police from Kok Kloi Police Station, and rescue teams from Kusoldharm Phuket and Loma Rescue Foundation.

The woman, estimated to be in her 30s, was found face-down in the water wearing a brown t-shirt and gray shorts. Her neck was tightly bound with a metal chain, which was attached to two concrete dumbbells—likely used to weigh the body down. Officials believe she had been dead for approximately two days.

Initial investigations revealed no reports of missing persons in the area, and local police have yet to identify the victim. Her body was transported to Takua Thung Hospital for autopsy and further examination, while authorities continue efforts to locate her relatives.

Police have not ruled out foul play and are treating the case as a potential homicide. The location of the body—near the estuary where the canal meets the sea—has raised the possibility that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and her body carried by the current.
