Authorities in Phuket have arrested a foreign national for allegedly working without a permit at a motorcycle rental shop in Kathu District, as part of an ongoing effort to enforce labor laws and maintain order in popular tourist zones.

The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that the arrest took place earlier this week. Officers conducted a targeted inspection of big bike rental businesses. The operation aimed at curbing illegal employment among foreigners in tourism-heavy areas.

During the inspection, officers encountered a foreign man identified only as Mr. Dinar (nationality and age were not identified by officers), who was actively washing motorcycles intended for rental to tourists. When asked to present a valid work permit, Mr. Dinar failed to produce any documentation.

He told police he was simply helping a friend named Victor clean the bikes and had received a motorcycle for personal use in return. However, authorities determined that his actions constituted unauthorized employment and charged him with violating immigration and labor regulations.

Tourist Police officials confirmed that further investigations are underway to identify additional individuals who may be involved in similar activities.
