Phuket –
The Phuket Provincial Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) collaborated with six regional agencies to inspect migrant worker conditions across Rassada in Mueang Phuket District. The operation, conducted on Tuesday (July 22nd), involved coordination between the Phuket Employment Office, Provincial Labour Office, Immigration Bureau, Provincial Administration, and the Office of Social Development and Human Security.
Construction Site Findings
At a local construction site in Rassada, authorities identified 20 Myanmar nationals employed on-site. Of these:
- 12 individuals held valid work permits
- 7 lacked identification documents, prompting temporary detention and follow-up verification at the Phuket Employment Office. After their employer provided necessary documents, officers released the workers with guidance on document retention and employer-change procedures
- 1 worker, Mr. Htay Soe, was found to be working without a permit and unlawfully present in the Kingdom. He was charged under the Foreign Workers Management Act and the Immigration Act, then transferred for further legal processing
Rice Noodle Factory Inspection
At a rice noodle production facility in the same subdistrict, officials screened 45 Myanmar workers, including both male and female laborers. The breakdown was as follows:
- 35 had valid work permits
- 1 had not formalized an employer change despite holding a valid permit, resulting in an administrative fine
- 9 were without identification and temporarily detained. After document verification by the employer, all were released with instructions similar to those given at the construction site
