Phuket –
A Chinese tourist lost her life and her husband was injured when a large tree collapsed during a storm on the Coral Island off of Chalong.
The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express that the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM on Sunday (July 20th) as the couple, visiting the island with a tour group, were seated on beach chairs beneath a tree near the shoreline.
Witnesses reported that strong winds and heavy rain swept across the area, causing the tree to fall and strike the woman directly, while her husband sustained minor injuries from falling branches.

Emergency staff stationed on the island responded promptly, administering first aid before transporting both victims to Chalong Pier for transfer to Chalong Hospital. Medical officials later confirmed the deceased as Mrs. Wang, 53, a Chinese national. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from Chalong Police Station arrived to document the case and coordinate further forensic procedures. The body was subsequently transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed autopsy.
Local authorities have since launched an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the incident and are reviewing safety protocols at coastal tourist spots, particularly regarding risks posed by unstable trees during adverse weather.
