Phuket-

The paradise island of Phuket is riding a massive wave of tourism momentum, according to the latest report from provincial authorities. In just the first five months of 2025, the island welcomed more than 5.8 million visitors, generating a staggering 223 billion baht in revenue—reflecting notable growth across both domestic and international sectors.

June alone saw over 1.7 million tourists, contributing an impressive 35.5 billion baht to the local economy. Leading source countries included India, Russia, China, Australia, and Malaysia, showing Phuket’s continued global appeal.

With the Buddhist holidays of Asalha Puja and the beginning of Lent now here, officials anticipate more than 199,000 visitors over the four-day period. Projected revenue for this period is approximately 2.89 billion baht, with average hotel occupancy expected to hit 60.57%.

Phuket’s tourism success is being bolstered by a slew of cultural and lifestyle events:

  • Phuket Health Expo
  • Lobster Festival
  • Thailand Biennale
  • Traditional “Por Tor” Festival

In addition, Phuket is intensifying international connectivity, notably ramping up direct flights from South Korea by 200%—a strategic move to attract family travelers, honeymooners, and golf enthusiasts year-round.

Provincial leaders say these initiatives reflect Phuket’s vision of becoming a “world-class quality tourism destination,” one that combines cultural richness with sustainable growth.
