Phuket Launch Island-Wide Crime Suppression Operation

Phuket–

Region 8’s Special Operations Police Unit (NPP) has launched a sweeping crackdown targeting high-risk areas across Phuket under the campaign “For a Safer Phuket.”

The operation, led by Pol. Col. Jitpaput Ekpho, Commander of Region 8’s Special Operations Division, deployed officers to key locations frequented by both locals and tourists. These included Phuket International Airport, Patong Beach, Phuket Old Town, Central Phuket, Surin Beach, Kamala Beach, and Robinson Thalang.

The intensive patrols are part of a proactive security strategy aimed at deterring crime and boosting confidence among residents and visitors. Officers have been conducting visible, high-frequency checks in crowded public spaces, transportation hubs, and major commercial centers to ensure safety is not compromised.

Pol. Col. Jitpaput explained that this is not a one-off campaign but a sustained operation. “Our goal is to create an environment where citizens and tourists alike feel safe and protected. The operation will continue regularly and rigorously,” he said.

The success of the mission has been reinforced by strong teamwork with local agencies and community business owners. As Phuket rebuilds its tourism sector, ensuring safety and public trust has become a major part of its recovery and growth strategy.

By combining boots-on-the-ground enforcement with community partnership, “For a Safer Phuket” aims to safeguard one of Thailand’s most treasured destinations—proving that paradise and protection can go hand in hand.
