Phuket –
Phuket Immigration Police have arrested a 46-year-old Russian national, identified only as Mr. Igor, who is wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for his alleged involvement in a major international drug trafficking operation.
The arrest followed a coordinated effort led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanumart Boonyaluck, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 6. Authorities were acting on information from the Department of International Affairs and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Phuket, who alerted Thai officials to Igor’s presence on the island.
According to reports, Igor is accused of distributing illegal narcotics online in Russia and is linked to a broader transnational criminal network. After fleeing prosecution, he entered Thailand and overstayed his visa, settling in Phuket in an attempt to evade capture.
An investigation team led by Pol. Col. Kriangkrai Ariyayin, superintendent of Phuket Immigration, along with his deputies and an investigative task force, located Igor and placed him under arrest. Immigration officials confirmed that Igor had exceeded his permitted stay in the Kingdom and would be deported for further legal action in his home country.
