Suspicious Device Found and Neutralized at Surin Beach in Cherng Talay

Phuket –

Authorities in Phuket have successfully located and destroyed a suspicious device buried near a construction site at Surin Beach in Cherng Talay, following a confession by a suspect linked to a broader bombing plot across southern Thailand.

The discovery was made early Friday morning after the suspect revealed that two devices had been planted near construction zones in the Cherng Thalay area of Thalang.

A joint operation involving Region 8 Provincial Police, local investigators, EOD units, and administrative officials was immediately launched to sweep the area using metal detectors and scanning equipment.

One device was discovered buried beneath a tree near a public restroom, within a landscape improvement zone overseen by the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.

EOD specialists employed tactical procedures to safely destroy the device on-site . Despite the successful operation, authorities are continuing their search for a second device believed to exist.
