Phuket —

A 48-year-old Russian tourist drowned while swimming with his son near the shore at Karon Beach late this morning June 20th in front of the Karon football field.

The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that the incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. Rescue teams and local authorities rushed to the scene and found the victim’s body lying on the sand. Preliminary investigations revealed that the tourist had entered the water with his son at approximately 10:00 a.m. After about half an hour, he went missing.

Alarmed by his disappearance, the man’s son alerted lifeguards, who immediately began searching the waters. Around 11:00 a.m., the victim was located approximately 100 meters from the shore. Lifeguards pulled him to land, where emergency responders attempted resuscitation. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Despite the official declaration, the victim’s wife and son, devastated by the loss, insisted he be transported to Chalong Hospital for further medical attention. Medical staff confirmed, however, that he had already passed away before arrival.
