Three Nigerians Arrested for Overstaying Visas up to 196 Days in Phuket

The Phuket Immigration have apprehended three Nigerian nationals for remaining in the country beyond their authorized visa periods. The arrests were part of a nationwide crackdown targeting foreigners who overstay or violate immigration laws.

The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express. The three individuals arrested were:

  • Mr. Jude, 30 years old, who overstayed his visa by 2 days
  • Mr. Chukwuemeka, 47 years old, who overstayed by 137 days
  • Mr. Onyekachi, 34 years old, who overstayed by 196 days

All three were charged with violating Thailand’s Immigration Act for remaining in the Kingdom after the expiration of their permitted stay. Authorities recorded the arrests and informed the individuals of their legal rights before transferring them to investigative officers for further legal proceedings.

This operation follows directives from the Royal Thai Police and Immigration Bureau. The crackdown is part of a broader initiative to address illegal immigration and criminal activity involving foreign nationals, with intensified enforcement measures taking place between June 16 and 18, 2025.
